The Apple approach gives users more flexibility in application choice, but it provides less integrated workflow automation than the platform-specific AI assistants that Microsoft and Google are building.

The enterprise market will likely support both models, with organisations choosing the approach that best fits their existing tool investments and security posture. Enterprises that have standardised on Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace will find the integrated AI assistants more compelling, while enterprises that have heterogeneous application environments or stricter data residency requirements will find Apple Intelligence's local processing model more suitable. The competitive dynamic will drive all three platforms to improve their AI capabilities, which benefits enterprises regardless of which platform they choose.
