Emyria opens first Sydney clinic for psychedelic-assisted therapy

ASX-listed mental health company Emyria has opened its first Sydney clinic, marking the company's expansion into New South Wales and extending its national network of psychedelic-assisted therapy centres into Australia's largest population market.

The clinic, located at Matilda Nepean Private Hospital, has assembled a team of around 20 Sydney-based therapists and four psychiatrists, two of whom have obtained Authorised Prescriber status ahead of the launch. The facility features four treatment rooms and offers patients access to specialist and evidence-based mental health treatments.

Executive chair Greg Hutchinson said the Sydney opening represents a significant milestone for the company. "Sydney represents an important expansion of Emyria's national footprint and provides the company with a presence in Australia's largest population market," Hutchinson said. "Importantly, it will create a new pathway for patients across NSW seeking access to specialist and evidence-based mental health treatments."

Emyria's model combines direct clinical services with treatment development and the evaluation of emerging therapies, including psychedelic-assisted approaches. The company focuses on patients who have not achieved adequate outcomes from conventional mental health care.

The Sydney launch forms part of Emyria's broader strategy to expand its national clinical network. The company already operates clinics across Queensland, Victoria, and Western Australia, and plans to continue growing its practitioner network and infrastructure.

The timing of the expansion reflects growing pharmaceutical investment and policy support for emerging mental health therapies. Eli Lilly's approximately $3.8 billion acquisition of AtaiBeckley and Johnson & Johnson's leading an $85 million investment in Delix Therapeutics signal increasing confidence in the sector.

The clinic will offer patients access to psychedelic-assisted therapy sessions conducted by trained psychiatrists and therapists in a controlled clinical environment. The approach has gained regulatory traction in Australia, with the Therapeutic Goods Administration providing pathways for psilocybin and MDMA-assisted therapy in treatment-resistant conditions.
