Sydney City: Western Sydney Airport
Western Sydney Airport is preparing for its first full year of operations.
A 17-floor hotel plan from 2018 was replaced by an eight-storey precinct after member feedback. Stage 1 construction is targeted to start early 2027.

The Parramatta Local Planning Panel approved the Parramatta Live masterplan on 30 April 2026, backing a $350 million-plus redevelopment of the Parramatta Leagues Club on a site adjoining CommBank Stadium. The application was lodged in August 2025 as a Regionally Significant Development Application and is forecast to generate 1,369 construction jobs.
The approved scheme is materially smaller than what the club first proposed. The 2018 plan involved a 17-floor hotel. The current maximum height is eight storeys.
Stage 1 delivers a new four-storey clubhouse with a sports bar, café, restaurants, conference facilities, a multi-purpose auditorium, rooftop terrace, health and leisure centre and carpark alterations. Full club facility completion is projected for mid-2028, with construction targeted to begin in early 2027 and the existing club remaining operational throughout.
Stage 2 adds a dedicated two-storey hospitality building and a further health and leisure component. Stage 2b is an eight-storey, 149-room hotel expected mid-2030.
A 450 square metre Youth Hub is included, justified by a forecast of Parramatta's youth population growing from 36,000 to over 61,000 by 2036.
Club president Mark Jenkins framed the approval as "our largest ever investment in our venue, a $350 million commitment that will deliver a new Leagues Club and integrated entertainment precinct that our members can be truly proud of, and a destination that Western Sydney can call its own." The club was founded in 1956.
A publicly funded stadium and a private members club with a 24-hour operating licence now sit inside the same precinct edge. CommBank Stadium opened in April 2019 with 30,000 seats and is the long-term home of the Parramatta Eels and Western Sydney Wanderers.
The club masterplan was recommended by council officers before panel endorsement, and the height reduction followed member and community feedback on the 2018 scheme. The City of Parramatta's own 2026/27 budget carries more than $570 million in operating and capital expenditure, with a capital works program of $171.4 million, the full IPART rate peg of 4.8 per cent, and a published 10 per cent baseline vacancy rate contributing to savings targets.
The application sits on the NSW Planning Portal, and City of Parramatta's operational plan is published through its participation site. Our City planning coverage and Parramatta desk follow the precinct.
